Andrei,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We apologize for any disappointment that you may have with your Minus33 Glove Liners. Here is some brief history of our company that may provide some insight into why we source some of our products abroad. The parent company of Minus33 is L.W. Packard, a textile company created by our current president's great-great-grand-uncle in 1916. We were able to successfully run this textile mill for 86 years until, in 2002, the politics of globalization caused our president's father to finally go out of business as one of the last textile mills in America. He had to fire 300 employees, most of them friends and family that he grew up with. After that, he started a 100% merino wool base layer company which is now the Minus33 you know today.
Recently, we have purchased several sock knitting machines and set them up in Ashland NH on the historic grounds of the L.W. Packard Mill. We learned how to operate these machines and designed the Mountain Heritage Collection of USA-made socks by Minus33. This sock line consists of four different weights of socks, in seven heights, four sizes, and five colors. We are currently looking to purchase more sock machines to make more weights of socks in the near term. Additionally, we are looking at purchasing machines that can produce hats and gloves in our mill in the next several years.
Rebuilding USA manufacturing is a very difficult process due to the trade laws put in place several decades ago, and I expect it to take time, but we assure you that we are working on it. We ask that if you feel strongly about bringing back production to the USA please contact your local reps and let them know that you're interested in seeing less globalization and more American-made products.
Thank you for purchasing from Minus33!
Stay safe,
-Melinda W.
