MOUNTAIN HERITAGE WOOL SOCKS

A SOCK OVERHAUL

We got our sock machines set up in May of 2019, and hit the ground running. We knew our customers wanted a sock for every occasion, with heights and cushion levels for all activities. By combining our historic textile knowledge, and using what we learned after redesigning our classic sock styles, we were able to envision a brand new sock collection that could truly meet your needs.

YARN SELECTIONS

WOOL/NYLON YARNS

We dialed in our yarn selection, using a combination of merino/nylon as the main body of the socks. These yarns deliver a high merino wool content, with the extra durability of nylon.

HIGH WOOL CONTENT

We have packed in huge quantities of wool next to your skin, using the synthetics only as needed to improve fit and durability.

mountain heritage socks perfect to wear camping with your friends

TECHNICAL FEATURES

Stretch nylon yarns are light enough to keep the merino content high while giving shape and fit to the sock. Lightweight plating also adds durability to high wear zones on the heel and toe.

Great for Winter Soft Boots, Not for Winter Climbers

I'm a winter climber who trains in New Hampshire. I enjoy bitter cold, alpine ice climbs. I bought three pairs of the OTC Liners to see if they would work well ice climbing. These are the nicest, thinnest, over the calf socks I've ever had. I've used and worn out many pairs of socks from other reputable brands. These are not the best for my application. In winter mountaineering, thin socks with modern boots keep many people's feet warmer and happier than thicker socks. These aren't super thin, but are thin enough that you feel everything inside rigid climbing boots. If you're a modern alpinist, looking for a thin, lightweight, OTC sock for use with high tech mountaineering boots, try Minus 33, but go for the next cushion level up to have a little more comfort around the heel and toes. I've used their base layers on 2000 mile thru hikes, to high altitude mountaineering expeditions, it's quality and I'll be purchasing more of the socks. I've encouraged many to try Minus 33, and everyone has had a positive experience. Great merino options. The competitors may have a generous guarantee for life, but I prefer a higher performing sock on committed routes.

Tim,

Thank you for taking the time to write us such a fantastic, detailed review! We greatly appreciate your feedback. It's great to hear that your Minus33 mountain heritage over the calf wool liner socks are the nicest, thinnest, over the calf socks you've ever had!

Thank you for putting Minus33 products to the test and for encouraging others to try our products!

Best,

-Steven D

Needed socks to hunt in 90+ degree weather. The mountain heritage micro weigh over the calf liner accommodated my need perfectly. The socks are my go-to socks for hunting deer in Southern California August heat.

Jesse,
We are so happy that the Mountain Heritage Over the Calf Wool Socks - Liner works for Southern California hunting. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review!

Impressive Liner

I think I like this liner better than Darn Tough liner socks. It's a little early to tell. But I like the percent of merino wool on these. I would buy them again

Great knee high liners!

I really like these socks. I’ve found it difficult to find knee high liner socks. The price is better than most and they feel and look if quality. I bought these for motorcycling. Will buy again.

Hi Steven,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We're glad to hear that you're enjoying our Over the Calf Wool Socks from our Mountain Heritage line. We understand how important knee high liner socks can be, especially for activities like motorcycling. Perfect North East Adventure Sock

I’ve put these sox thru the wringer over the last month and they’ve held up and really impressed. 2 days of lift access mountain biking in Vermont where they served as all weather (rain) gear and shin/calf protection from sharp flat pedal pins (small tear in sox, no tear in calf). 10 days of cross country mtn biking in NH and in Massachusetts including inclement weather, mud and many trips thru the laundry. Bonus: knee highs in solid light color help me find and remove ticks before they bite me. Add to that 2 days of hiking and a 6 day backcountry canoe camping tour including 12 miles of portage. These were a critical part my fast/light backcountry travel kit allowing me to travel, paddle and fish in sun and in heavy rain, including lining my boat thru the shallows and getting in and out of the water in combination with sport sandals to allow for relatively warm and comfortable amphibious and efficient cross country adventure travel in the Adirondacks. These sox have outstanding dry and wet weather performance. They stay warm when wet, can be worn over and over without accumulating odor, they fit my feet and legs better than other high end merino brands, cost less, show no signs of wear and are made locally from natural materials. 5 Star.

Brian,

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed and positive review for our Liner - Over the Calf Wool Socks Mountain Heritage. We are thrilled to hear that our socks have stood up to your rigorous adventures and provided the necessary protection and comfort. It's great to know that they have also helped in preventing tick bites - an added bonus! We take pride in using natural materials and producing locally, so we are glad that you appreciate that aspect of our brand. Thank you for choosing our socks and we hope to continue being a part of your outdoor adventures.
